Forgive our traditional rulers, Jebba, Shao indigenes plead with Kwara Governor •Want the Obas to be recognized with pay
This appeal was made by the people when they paid congratulatory visit to Oba of Jebba when he marked his 90th birthday in his palace recently.
The people said it was a thing of shame for them to have Obas who are not recognized by the state government. The indigenes who came in large numbers from Shao and various parts of Jebba land, also appealed to the Senate President, Senator (Dr.) Bukola Saraki to kindly intervene in the matter. They said the state government would have resolved the matter in their favour since, but there are some groups fueling the problem by portraying the two Obas in bad light before the authority.
They added that the two monarchs were doing everything possible to seek support for the state government and also working for peaceful co-existence among their subjects.
We love our Obas and they love their subjects too. These Obas place priority on the progress and development of their domains and this is why we are appealing to our dear governor, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulfatah Ahmed to kindly reconsider their Obas' case.
In his thank you address to the people during the visit, Oba (Alhaji) Abdulkadir Adeba ra expressed appreciation to the people for their concern about his plight. Kabiyesi said the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Sulu Gambari and some influential people in the state have also stepped into the matter on our behalf, assuring the people that soon the governor would reconsider their plight.
It will be recalled that Oba of Jebba had been on the throne for the past 14 years ago without been recognized by the state government or receive any pay or promotion. So also the Oba of Shao land in Moro Local Government of the state.
It will be also recalled that Oba Adebara of Jebba marked his 90th birthday on December 31, 2017 with thanksgiving and special prayers in his palace. Guests from various parts of Jebba land and the state graced the occasion.
