House wife beaten to death over Xmas food

AN ex-boxer has been on the run for beaten his wife to death for demanding money for Christmas food from her husband.

As a result, the Anambra State Police Command has launched a man-hunt for the ex-boxer, simply identified as Everitus, for allegedly beaten his wife, Fidelia, to death.

It was gathered that Everitus, who is also a popular pastor with a Charismatic Church, attacked his wife during a disagreement at their home in Uli, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to the report gathered, Fidelia had reportedly demanded money for Christmas food from her husband when an argument ensued between them.

As the argument degenerated, the retired boxer was alleged to have beaten the wife to a pulp.

The incident was said to have been reported later to the police at the Ihiala Division, just as some youths vented their anger on the suspect's country house in Amamputu Village, in the same local government.

An eye witness, who begged for anonymity, told newsmen that the mob set Everitus' country house ablaze after the incident which occurred on December 26, 2017.

According to him, “the man and the wife had been married for some time now. They usually have disagreements. The man is a retired boxer who has become a pastor.”  The wife, who was a trader in Ekeagbagba market, had asked her husband for money, saying  she wanted to prepare food for the Christmas.

“That was what started the fight. He beat her to death over the issue. The man is on the run now, while the incident had been reported to the police,” the eyewitness said.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nkiruka Nwode, said the report had yet to get to her office.
